By Jowita Meisner, Industriekauffrau (IHK) and German teacher since 2013 · Last updated: 04.10.2026
12 short questions from working life, from A1 to C2. Result straight away, no sign-up. The check is a rough guide; we clarify your exact level in the first consultation.
How the check works
You answer 12 questions that get harder from A1 to C2. At the end you see roughly which level you are at and which level you can learn next. The instructions are available in German, Polish and English; the questions are always in German.
What the levels mean
| Level | What you can do (in line with the Common European Framework, paraphrased) |
|---|---|
| A1 | Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very simple sentences, introduce yourself and others, and ask and answer simple questions about yourself. |
| A2 | Understand sentences and frequent expressions on topics of immediate relevance, such as family, shopping or work, and communicate in simple, routine situations. |
| B1 | Understand the main points when clear standard language is spoken about familiar topics from work, school or leisure; write simple connected texts and briefly give reasons for plans or opinions. |
| B2 | Understand the main content of complex texts, including technical discussions in your own field; communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is possible without strain; write clear, detailed texts. |
| C1 | Understand demanding, longer texts and grasp implicit meanings; express yourself spontaneously and fluently; use the language flexibly and effectively in social, academic and professional life. |
| C2 | Understand virtually everything with ease, summarise information from different sources, and express yourself very fluently and precisely, including fine shades of meaning in complex situations. |
